Among those who received nomination papers were PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PTI founder Imran Khan.
Nawaz Sharif's nomination papers were submitted from the NA-130 constituency by former PML-N MNA Bilal Yasin, who is also the covering candidate for the same seat.
PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif, brother of Nawaz Sharif, has received nomination papers for NA-123 and PP-158 and PP-164 seats of the Punjab Assembly from Lahore. His papers have also been submitted for NA-132 case.
PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's papers were submitted for Lahore's NA-128 constituency, where PML-N's Khawaja Ahmad Hassan, Jamaat-e-Islami's Liaquat Baloch and others are candidates.
Although PTI founder Imran Khan's eligibility to contest the election is still up in the air, his nomination papers were submitted for the NA-89 constituency in Mianwali.
Javed Iqbal, father of PTI's detained social media activist Sanam Javed, also announced that his daughter will contest against Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, who will contest from Lahore's PP150 constituency.
Javed Iqbal had obtained papers for NA 123, PP 150, 158 and 164 on behalf of his daughter.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party's (IPP) central information secretary Khurram Hameed Rokhri has filed his nomination papers for NA-89, where he will take on Imran Khan. Nawab Aamir Mohammad Khan of the PPP and Obaidullah Shadi Khel of the PML-N are also in the fray from here.
Meanwhile, IPP president Abdul Aleem Khan is keen to contest from NA-147 Khanewal and is also likely to contest from the National Assembly constituency from Lahore.
National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf filed his nomination papers from NA-52 and his son Khurram Pervaiz from PP-8 Gujjar Khan.
Former chief minister and PTI president Pervaiz Elahi will contest from NA-69 Mandi Bahauddin and former defence minister Khawaja Asif from NA-71 Sialkot.
Both of them have also filed their nomination papers for two Punjab Assembly seats PP 46 and 47.
In Jhang, former interior minister Faisal Saleh Hayat, former federal ministers Sahibzada Mahbub Sultan and Ghulam Bibi Bharwana have submitted papers from NA-108.
In NA-109, Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Amir Sultan and Maulana Mohammad Ahmad Ludhianvi will be the candidates and 7 other candidates including Sahibzada Amir Sultan will contest from NA-110.
Nadeem Afzal Chan of the PPP has received nomination papers for two National Assembly seats NA-82 and 86 from Sargodha. PML-N's Ataullah Tarar is expected to contest from NA-77, Gujranwala.
Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will not contest from any platform.
Sources said that due to pressure from voters, his son Nadir will now file papers as an independent candidate from NA-51 constituency in Murree.
